It originated in the Lower Rhine region and the historic area of “Grafschaft” in what is now the Ahrweiler district. The front of this chest stands out for its elaborate, deeply carved geometric patterns and floral motifs, as well as the clearly visible carved date ‘1748’ and the initials ‘D F’. Inside are two small, separate side compartments for storing valuables.
