In 2013, Sven founded MCF – back then still a small business starting out in a garage. Only one employee was involved, who took care of refurbishing the furniture. Sven himself worked around the clock: he drove across Germany, collected used furniture, planned the restorations, took photographs, ran the online shop, sold, and delivered everything personally.

A large part of the professionally restored pieces also ended up in his flat – later they piled up in front of the cellar and in the hallway. When this became too much for the neighbours, Sven rented his first storage hall in 2014. From then on, not only the furniture stock grew, but also the team. In 2021, Johanna finally joined the company, and MCF became a family business with now 18 employees.

Today Sven focuses mainly on purchasing and designs his own high-quality upcycling designs. Together with the restored design classics, these pieces find their way to people in Germany, Europe, and around the world. Johanna makes the company more sustainable from the ground up. In close exchange with science and politics, she tries to develop cycles for the furniture market. She writes and tells all the stories that make up the company and tries to make the topic of sustainability as tangible as possible.

What unites all of us at MCF: We love old furniture. Even for us, it is a special feeling to wander through the aisles of our storage hall. The journey of a piece of furniture with us is elaborate – from procurement through refurbishment, photography, and historical classification to storage and safe packaging for shipping. But that is exactly why our team knows every single one of the roughly 1,500 pieces of furniture. Everyone has held them all in their own hands at some point. And that is something our customers greatly appreciate.
